I got a late start to the Fall Nationals. I decided to work most of Friday. I was fortunate to pull in and and get checked in with the PDRA just as the Pro Cars were getting ready for qualifying session 2. It was a HOT, HUMID and BUGGY Friday afternoon. I wasn’t there long and I was looking for shade.
Most of the Pro cars made really good passes considering how hot it was. Tyler Miller and the Darlington Dragway team had the track on kill, surprising most teams of how good the surface was. Most of Friday is just a blur right now. I do remember that we had a surprise leader on the Pro Nitrous ladder. Todd Fontanna was our low qualifier for the day so far.
Things eventually cooled off some and we started our third session of the day. Billy Albert driving the Structural Mechanical entry went 3.79 I believe to set a new PDRA Top Sportsmen record. Lizzy Mussi worked here way to the top of the Pro Nitrous ladder. We had several cars run in the 3.60′ this session. Did I tell you three different engine builders went in the .60’s in Pro Nitrous and the fourth engine builder went 3.702. WOW !!!
I spent most of Friday night with the #MidnightSpecial team of Tony Wilson. I’ll just say this we were up rather late. The one and only Jeremy Creasman told possibly the GREATEST STORY ever, and that’s all I can say about that !!!!
Saturday came and it was race day. We were treated to some fantastic racing in every class. The guys running with dial ins were killing them many, many runs with dead on the number and this made for amazing action.
Well to make a long story short the Finals of Pro Nitrous were Tommy Franklin vs Danny Sauro. Danny took the win with a new PDRA record of 3.652. I believe this was Danny’s first Pro Mod win and if I am correct this was his first event with the Modern Racing team tuning his car.
In Pro Boost we saw Tommy D’April vs Melanie Salemi . This was a GREAT race with Tommy running a 3.69 to Melanie’s 3.70.
Thanks to everyone that has put an www.ncpromoder.com decal on their car. I appreciate it more than you will ever know.
Congratulations to a few personal friends that scored wins at the event.
Danny Urban in Elite Top Sportsmen
Chaz Silance in Top Dragster, this was his second win of the season
Noah Johnson took the Bracket Bash title in a Dragster out of the Messer Racing stable.
Jordan Enslin took the win in 632 Pro class.
I can’t forget Jermey Ray in the #CarolinaKingpin picking up his first NHRA Pro Mod win !!!!
Well that’s all for now. I’m disappointed that The Big Dog at Piedmont Dragway has been postponed due to rain, we will be thinking about all of our friends in the path of Hurricane Michael.
Hopefully I’ll make an appearance at the NHRA event at Zmaxx this weekend. I’ll just be going as a fan. I don’t think I made the media list 🙁 .
