Another huge week in the books two great races and @1750 miles on the road. We started the weekend on Thursday at #PiedmontDragway for the September Big Dog program. We were blessed with another large turn out of cars attempting to make the 8 car field. Brian Shrader lead the way in qualifying. Unfortunately two of the local favorites, Cam Clark and Jason Harris did not make the field. Both teams had issues on the first qualifying attempt in the preferred left lane. On the second attempt both drivers made good runs until they hit the dreaded bump in the right lane around the 400 ft mark. Jason’s car made several scary moves close to the wall and center lane, but he was able to keep it under control. Cam’s run was very similar but his car didn’t make quite as big of a move over the bump, but he did have to lift and was not quick enough to make the field. Cam was leading the points going into the evening. This was one of the tightest fields of the year. Justin Wall and Scott Lang both made career best run to make the tight 8 car field. Tim Lawrence and Brian Shrader squared off in the finals with Brian taking the win and the series championship for 2018. I’d like to thank all of the racers who have supported the series this year. We are slowly rebuilding it back to where it once was. Thanks you, Brian Shrader, Tim Lawrence, Bubba Turner, Travis Harvey, Cam Clark, Jason Harris, Danny Perry, Justin Wall, Scott Lang, Tommy Payne, Brett Nesbitt and the Wilsons for showing up and racing.
Well after getting home after midnight and finishing packing, then going to bed at 1 am. Only to wake up at 4:30 am to got to work, I worked from 5:15am-1:30 pm. It was time to hit the road to Indianapolis only 640 miles ETA midnight. We played the traffic great and arrived early only making 2 short stops for gas. They think a lot of gas in OHIO ?? Got checked into my room exhausted and then the Monsters and Diet Mountain Dew continued to kick in and I couldn’t get to sleep. LOL
Finally got a few hours of sleep and headed over to #LucasOilRaceway for my first #NMCA event. They had 23 Pro Mods on the gorunds for a 16 car field. I went around to all of the pits to familiarize my self with all of the cars and drivers. They had a few other classes that I really enjoyed watching race as well.
To make a long story short Jason Hamstra continued his streak by taking the #1 qualifying spot for eliminations. In the end Jason squared off against Michael Recchia Sr. Both Screw blown machines ?? Hamsta took the win and series championship for the #NMCA.
Unfortunately we did loose a Pro Mod to a severe accident. It was really great to see the #BarnBurner of Craig Sullivan make some great runs as well as seeing Jackie Sloan show everyone what the #Musi powered machine could do. Thanks to Jackie and his team for running our decal at the event. We also had several #ProCharged machines on the grounds. I believe this is the technology of the future and I enjoyed learning more about them. Why is a Pro Charger with Zoomies so LOUD ???
I have to thank the following teams for making sure that I did not want for anything while I was at the track. You guys are all AWESOME !!!
Craig Sullivan Motorsports
Rudolf Motorsports
Jackie Sloan and the Sloan Boys Team
Glaser Racing
Thanks to everyone at #NMCA for allowing us to come and thanks to all of the racers and teams in every class that we spent some time with asking questions and taking pictures with.
Well that’s all for now, I’m sorry this is so late but life gets in the way some time.
Still working hard to #MAKEDRAGRACINGGREAT. Please contact us If you want to join the 2019 #MakeDragRacingGreatTourbyNCProModer we need all of the partners we can find, it’s very expensive to travel to all of these events out of pocket most of the time. The Indy event is a prime example, this was well over a $600 dollar trip, plus another day lost from work. I don’t regret it ,we forged new relationships and continued to build the #NCProModer brand and most importantly enjoyed some world class racing in many categories.
Thanks for reading and following,
