WOW, 3 days of racing. We arrived at #GalotMotorsportsPark on Wednesday night. After getting set up we went out to eat with my friends from #BHR and #RandyWeatherford Racing. I enjoyed a decent steak and some great fellowship with the guys. We saw lots of other racers and teams eating.
Thursday morning arrived and we are excited to get #DragWars started. It is extremely hot and not quite as many cars testing as usual. I believe Randy Weatherford was low for the day. He came off the trailer quick. I spent most of the day watching and networking with many teams.
Around 5:30 we headed out to an event at #KDSMotorsports in Kinston NC. It was test-n-tune and the #252list race. We were greeted with a large crowd and many racers testing. The list race was GREAT with the number 10 truck moving up several spots. We did end the night with a new number one car. I can’t thank the fine folks at #KinstonDragStrip for all of the hospitality, we really appreciate you guys being behind us and our efforts. Thursday was an extremely long day being track-side in the heat for 12hrs plus.
Friday morning its time to get the #PDRA party started, lots of cars have rolled in overnight. We had a big field of cars in #TOPSPORTSMEN and #TOPDRAGSTER and a big turnout for the #Bracketbbash. The only thing that stands out about Friday was the night session of Pro qualifying. Lost of nitrous cars hurt parts in the right lane. Multiple engine and transmission failures worked the track staff hard. Tommy D’April and Tommy Franklin ended up on top of Pro Boost and Pro Nitrous. I spent more time than normal watching the #Speedvideo live feed due to the extreme heat. My cell phone did not like the heat shutting down and resetting multiple times, which killed the live streaming!!
Congratulations to Tony Wilson taking the bottle car to the win in the Bottle vs Blower race.
Saturday I awoke and it was already hot. The first round of Pro Mod was interesting with four cars having issues that resulted in contact with the wall. Three of the cars were damaged severely, but luckily all of the drivers were Ok. This was very hard to watch as many beautiful race cars were destroyed. The rest of the day is just kind of a blur til the finals. Jason Harris and Tommy Franklin squared off in the Pro Nitrous finals. Tommy had his best run of the weekend with a 3.705 to get the win over Jason who had some tire shake and was off slightly with a mid 3.80’s run.
Tommy D’April and Marc Caruso squared off in the Pro Boost finals. Both teams are running the new #Noonan 4.9 engine. Marc was out on Tommy but Tommy’s car proved to be too powerful on the top end and Tommy D’April took the win. Congratulations to some of my friends on their wins, Jr. Ward, Kimberly Messer , Aaron Glaser and Johnny Pluchino and all of the other winners. When you pick up a win at a #PDRA event you have done something.
Thanks to all of the FANS and TEAMS for supporting the race. I know it was hot, but we had a large crowd on Saturday.
Thanks for all of the support, looks like I may receive some of hurricane #Florence. I hope not. Please be safe and get yourself prepared if your are in the path. I can tell you from previous experience. Don’t underestimate the power of these storms, I’m almost 125 miles inland an sustained a lot of damage in Hurricane FRAN.
